Dr. Jason Turner

Biography 

Jason grew up in the Green Country of Oklahoma in a small rural community with family ties to the Quarter Horse racing industry. This fueled his interest and desire to pursue further study of horses through 4-H and FFA activities. These experiences led Jason to pursue his B.S. degree in animal sciences at Oklahoma State University. He then obtained his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in animal science studying equine reproduction and equine health, respectively.

Dr. Turner has taught equine science and horsemanship courses in Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas, North Dakota, and New Mexico. He has conducted clinics and horse owner workshops in several US states, Switzerland, Germany, and the Czech Republic. He oversees a very active teaching and extension program at New Mexico State University. He also serves on many national committees focusing on research and youth, as well as adult, educational programs in the horse industry. Aside from his career as an NMSU professor, Dr. Turner has judged youth, open, and breed association shows in several US states and Mexico.
