EAST LANSING, Mich. – Laminitis is a serious horse health condition that can cause permanent damage or death. To help horse owners reduce the probability of laminitis in their charges, Michigan State University (MSU) Extension’s My Horse University and eXtension’s HorseQuest offered a free webcast on April 21. The webcast was recorded and is now available to view at no cost to you!
“Countermeasure for Equine Laminitis” featured Bridgett McIntosh, University of Tennessee Extension horse specialist, who offered science-based strategies for managing nutritionally-related risk factors associated with laminitis. She discussed managing pastures, hays, feeds and the animals themselves to help horse owners and barn owners provide proper nutrition and reduce the occurrence of equine laminitis.
