Tractor and Machinery Safety
Summary
Tractors and machinery are a leading cause of injuries in agriculture. Hazard recognition and abatement strategies can be simple and inexpensive once you know where to look for the hazards. These same strategies can also be used when purchasing new or used agricultural equipment.
Presenter Information
Aaron Yoder earned his B.S. and M.S. degrees in the Agricultural and Biological Engineering Department at Penn State University in 1997 and 1999, respectively, and his Ph.D. in the Agricultural and Biological Engineering Department at Purdue University in 2002. After grad school, he returned to Penn State as an Instructor and Extension Safety Associate. As an Instructor and Extension Safety Associate for Penn State, Aaron provides national leadership for the National Safe Tractor and Machinery Operation Program by coordinating online instructor training and educational programs for 4-Hers, volunteers and county educators. In addition, he teaches within the Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering and participates in other research and outreach programs for the Penn State Agricultural Safety and Health Program.
